An American newsreader took her own life after splitting from her partner weeks before they were due to marry. Neena Pacholke, an anchor for ABC affiliate TV channel WAOW-9, was just 27 when she died.
It is understood she was in a relationship with divorced father-of-two Kyle Haase and was due to marry the 38-year-old in Mexico on October 12. As reported by the Mirror, Kyle reportedly told Neena he was kicking her out after an argument in July but they later reconciled.
It has been claimed Neena became suspicious her commercial sales manager fiancé had rekindled a romance with a former lover. The newscaster had reportedly told a friend she had found an unfamiliar pair of underwear in the home she shared with Kyle.
"They were always arguing, and it seemed like Neena was more in love with Kyle that he was with her," the friend told MailOnline. Neena was found dead at the home she and Kyle had recently bought in Wausau Wisconsin on Saturday, August 27.
A friend had asked police to do a welfare check before they found Neena. "After receiving no answer at the door, officers entered the home and found Pacholke deceased," a police press release stated.
Police confirmed her death and said: "The Wausau Police and Marathon County Medical Examiner's Office have confirmed that 27-year-old Neena Pacholke died as a result of suicide."
In an interview on WAOW-9, where Neena had hosted Wake Up Wisconsin, Neena's parents confirmed she had suffered with mental health issues for years. Neena's mother, Laurie Pacholke said, "She was getting treatment. I'll put it out there – she had been to the crisis centre a couple of times.
"She had so many people here to talk to. She talked to people, but she didn't want anybody to know how she was hurting so she didn't talk until it got so bad."
Mirror contacted Kyle for comment.
