England Women's midfielder Jill Scott has announced that she will be retiring from football just weeks after lifting the Euros trophy.
The 35-year-old from Sunderland won 161 caps for the Lionesses and scored 27 goals. She also won the Women's Super League title and four women's FA Cups.
Today she took to social media to announce that she will be retiring from the sport. In a post on Twitter she wrote: "Right, we're not crying. I promised myself.

"I'm retiring from football. And I'm leaving with a gold medal swinging from my neck. This is my farewell with @TPTFootball."
Scott, who also played for Manchester City ladies, shared the post along with an article from The Players' Tribune in which she reflects on her incredible career. She begins by reflecting on her early career when she featured in the local paper for winning "Man of the Match" in a boys' tournament.
She concludes by reflecting on the Lionesses Euros win, describing the moment as "better than a dream". She told Players' Tribune: "You know the last thing I ever did on a football pitch? It was perfectly me .
"We had celebrated, the streamers were going off, and I was just sitting there with my medal on the grass for an hour and a half, taking it all in … and I knew, deep in my heart, that this was it."
