Three solo exhibitions of contemporary jewellery art from Norway are presented under one title, "And Then There Were Three", at Atta Gallery through July 31.
On display are pieces by three Norwegian artists -- Sigurd Bronger, Runa Vethal Stølen and Reinhold Ziegler -- whose professional relationships were forged while they shared a studio space in Oslo between 2009 and 2016.
They work in different ways, with different concepts, employing different forms and visual languages, using different materials and techniques in creating their art pieces.
Their works give viewers a glimpse into the field of contemporary art jewellery that is not quite yet well-known in Thailand and their different artistic expressions are expected to pique the interests of viewers.
A professor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Bronger has been using a selection of old and new cardboard boxes in his new collection of works that don't always have to be seen on the body but can also be perceived as an independent object in space.
Vethal Stølen brings a dozen jewellery pieces inspired by "counterpoint", a concept from the world of music. It is a collective term for musical techniques where different musical voices are part of a harmonious whole despite the fact they are rhythmically and melodically independent.
Meanwhile, Ziegler creates jewellery objects with the aim to move the attention of the wearer or onlooker from themselves onto something greater, a radical strategy within a field that is strongly occupied with emphasising the individuality of the wearer.
Atta Gallery is located at Warehouse 30 on Charoen Krung 30 and opens Wednesday to Sunday from 1-6.30pm.
