Jets WR Davante Adams will play vs. Indianapolis Colts in Week 11

New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams will play in Week 11 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Adams was listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report, dealing with a wrist injury and an illness. However, after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday, Adams appeared to be trending towards playing after being a full participant on Friday.

Since joining the Jets in Week 7, not surprisingly, Adams has been targeted very heavily by quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 38 targets Adams has during that span are the fourth-most in football.

Adams has gone on to catch 20 of those passes for 206 yards and a touchdown. An elite route runner with a deep release package at the line of scrimmage, Adams is excellent at creating separation.

Opposite of Adams is Garrett Wilson, whose 98 targets are the most in football this season and his 704 receiving yards ranks as the fourth-most.

These two will undoubtedly present a big challenge for the Colts’ secondary.

The cornerback and safety positions were two of the biggest question marks for the Colts entering the season. However, this is a unit as a whole that continues to trend in the right direction.

Although on the season, the Colts are still surrendering the sixth-most yards per pass attempt, in the last three games, Indianapolis ranks sixth in coverage EPA (expected points added) and as a defense have been among the best at generating takeaways.

The Colts’ defensive front will play an important role when it comes to limiting Adams and Wilson. Containing Breece Hall and the run game will put the Jets in more obvious passing situations, while pressure on the quarterback is a cornerback’s best friend.
