Jets sign 5-time Pro Bowler Duane Brown

The player Jets fans have been clamoring for for days will indeed be heading to New York. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are signing five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Duane Brown to a two-year contract worth $22 million.

The two sides have had a mutual interest for some time and it finally came to fruition on Thursday, three days after the Jets lost Mekhi Becton to a likely season-ending knee injury. The question now becomes who plays left and who plays right between Brown and George Fant.

Per SNY’s Connor Hughes, Brown also had options with contending teams but ultimately wanted to come to New York, even knowing the playoffs were a long shot.

QB Zach Wilson certainly has to feel much better about his offensive line outlook with the addition of Brown, who is coming off his fifth appearance in the Pro Bowl. Even entering his age-37 season, Brown has been a model of consistency in the NFL throughout his career. 2022 will be Brown’s 15th season in the league.

Max Mitchell and Chuma Edoga will likely rotate at right tackle during Friday’s game against the Eagles, but Brown should be ready to go when the team returns to practice next week, be it at left or right tackle.
