Jets coach Robert Salah firmly agreed to Aaron Rodgers’s latest criticism of the franchise needing to “grow up a little” after losing back-to-back games in two weeks.
Salah told reporters on Wednesday that the four-time MVP’s thoughts about the current state of the team is spot on.
“I’ve said it with Aaron, he’s as much of a coach as he is a player and he’s been around youth and he’s been around adversity and he’s seen it all,” Saleh said. “…For him to recognize that and talk through it, I think he’s not wrong. When you have frustration, it’s easy to kind of look for answers when sometimes the most important answer is inward. That’s the only way you can defeat adversity is to look inward and find ways to be your personal best. As it pertains to what he said, he’s not wrong, but at the same time it’s just a bunch of young guys showing a little bit of frustration, so they’ll be all right.”
On Monday, Rodgers appeared on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, saying the team needed to hold its “poise a little bit better”, “be a little bit better competitors” and “not point fingers.”
“I think there’s been too many little side conversations and we just need to grow up a little bit on offense and lock in and do our jobs—everybody,” Rodgers said on the show. “…We don’t point fingers at the coaching staff, don’t point fingers at each other, just get back to work and get the job done.”
New York (1-2) will seek to win its second game of the season when the Jets face the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
