The New York Jets have made it clear they aren’t too interested in being the subject of this summer’s edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks. However, despite that, they may end up in the spotlight after all.
According to a report from Pro Football Talk, tbe Jets are preparing to be chosen as the focus of this season’s version. It would be New York’s second appearance on the show with the other coming in 2010.
From Pro Football Talk:
Per a league source, the Jets are bracing for the preseason Hard Knocks assignment, despite making known publicly (and privately) their lack of interest in serving as the focal point of this year’s show.
The Jets are one of four teams — along with the Saints, Bears and Commanders — that can be chosen by the league to participate on the show. They are eligible because they do not have a first-year head coach, they have not made the playoffs in the past two seasons and haven’t been on Hard Knocks in the past ten seasons.
On a positive note, the last time the Jets were on the show, they reached the playoffs. Maybe being on the show could be a good luck charm.
We should find out soon enough with training camp starting in about a month. The Jets could soon be the stars of the summer.
