Jets Give QB Zach Wilson Permission to Seek Trade

New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas announced Wednesday that the team has given quarterback Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade.

Wilson was selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL draft to be the franchise’s signal-caller of the future but has struggled mightily ever since. In 34 games over the last three years, Wilson has completed just 57% of his passes and thrown 23 touchdowns to 25 interceptions. He has a 12–21 record as a starter and has never posted a QBR hired than 39 in a season.

After his first two years with New York proved to be disastrous, the Jets made a blockbuster deal to trade for Aaron Rodgers last offseason with plans to have Wilson learn behind the four-time MVP. Unfortunately, Rodgers tore his Achilles in his first regular-season possession with the Jets and Wilson was thrust back under center only to struggle yet again.
