The Jets are looking at multiple options for wide receiver Mecole Hardman, including a trade, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Hardman, who signed a one-year deal to join the Jets during free agency, did not play in the Jets’ 31–21 win on Sunday against the Broncos. Prior to the Week 5 matchup, the 25-year-old saw limited action in the Jets’ game against the Chiefs.
Hardman played in only six of New York’s 59 offensive plays against his former team. The two-time Super Bowl winner has hinted at his thoughts about his lack of playing with the franchise.
After New York’s loss to Kansas City, Hardman reposted a message from a fan on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) about his lack of playing time in the Jets’ offense.
“USE HIM !!! @nyjets @MecoleHardman4,” the post read.
After the Jets’ loss to the Patriots in Week 3, Hardman addressed any notions of him not being healthy enough to play as the reason he has not earned more playing time in the 2023 campaign.
“I wish people would stop saying I be hurt a lot, that just shows who actually pay attention! Played every game for 3 years straight and had a freak injury halfway through year 4. A injury where none of y’all don’t even have the slightest idea of what I dealt with when the injury occurred,” Hardman posted.
Last season, Hardman was limited to eight games due to suffering an abdomen injury against the Titans in Week 9. He finished the ’22 campaign with 25 receptions for 297 yards and four touchdowns.
Hardman has registered one catch for six yards in four games this season.
