Jets Adding Close Aaron Rodgers Friend to Quarterback Room

As the football world awaits Aaron Rodgers’ official move to join the Jets, New York has added another familiar face to its roster.

The Jets are signing quarterback Tim Boyle to a one-year contract, the team announced on Thursday. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network originally reported the move. Assuming Rodgers does indeed get moved to New York, that would reunite the pair after they were teammates in Green Bay from 2018 to ’20.

Boyle, 28, signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. In three seasons with Green Bay, he appeared in a total of 11 games, making just four pass attempts. He spent the ’21 season with the Lions and last year with the Bears. For his career, Boyle has made three starts and thrown for 574 yards with three touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Boyle is the latest former Packer to join New York this offseason. The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator after his 15-game stint as the head coach for the Broncos. Hackett was Green Bay’s offensive coordinator from 2019 to ’21. The Jets have also signed former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard.
