A Jet2 passenger has recalled the "scariest moment" of their life after a "bomb threat" led to their plane being met by armed police at a London airport. The aircraft was flying from Dalaman in Turkey to Manchester when it was suddenly escorted by two RAF jets to Stansted on Wednesday.
Those onboard said they had "no idea" what was happening as the plane touched down at a "red point" and was immediately surrounded by armed police. Passenger Andrea Aspinwall said officers had their guns pointed at the aircraft as sat stationary for roughly two hours, Manchester Evening News reports.
She added that everyone was told to "keep calm", but passengers soon "started panicking". Andrea, from North Wales, said she knew "something was wrong" when the plane started circling shortly before the pilot announced that they would landing at Manchester Airport.
