Jet2 issues update to thousands of customers affected by air traffic control glitch

  • Jet2 has repatriated and issued automatic full refunds to thousands of customers affected by last week's air traffic control failure.
  • The technical glitch in the Nats system affected over 2,000 flights, leaving around 7,200 Jet2 passengers requiring assistance at the peak of the disruption.
  • The airline added more than a dozen extra flights and provided hotel accommodation to return stranded passengers from destinations including Greece , Turkey , Spain and Malta .
  • Under air passenger rights rules, travellers whose flights were cancelled are entitled to a full refund or an alternative flight to their destination.
  • Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy called the failure unacceptable and demanded government action over its 49 per cent stake in Nats.
