A Jet2 flight to Ibiza was forced to suddenly turn around and return to Manchester Airport on Wednesday evening (July 12).

The LS191 flight, that departed from Manchester Airport 30 minutes later than scheduled, at around 5.45pm, was heading for the Balearic Islands and due to land at 9pm.

However around half an hour into the journey, the plane turned over the English Channel and was forced to suddenly divert back to Manchester again.

Reports online suggested the reason for the sudden diversion was due to 'technical' and 'communication issues' however in a public tweet, Jet2 said it was 'due to unforeseen operational reasons'.

Jet2 is yet to confirm the full details surrounding the incident and has been approached for comment.
