Jesy Nelson scrambles to sort 'mess' after huge u-turn on 'rollercoaster' solo career

To say Jesy Nelson’s solo career has got off to a rocky start would be putting it politely - and there’s no sign of steadier waters yet.

We can reveal chaos has erupted in Jesy’s camp after she frantically scrapped plans to release her third single Cried Out, as she struggles to find her sound. Instead, she will now release an “uptempo banger” that the former Little Mix star claims is “me in a nutshell”.

A source said: “Jesy has been listening to her critics. She is desperate to give fans something epic and is doing all she can to find her authentic sound, but the sudden change-up has unsettled her camp.

“Last year, most of her debut album was believed to be done - even the artwork was in place - but Jesy has since done a huge u-turn and everything is being reworked, even the aesthetic as it doesn’t match her new uptempo direction. It’s all a bit of a mess.”

The shift comes after Jesy’s emotional ballad about an abusive relationship, Bad Thing, failed to break into the UK Top 100 and left fans feeling wholly underwhelmed.

Meanwhile, Leigh Anne’s Pinnock’s debut track Don’t Say Love soared to No11.

Last year, Jesy parted ways with her label Polydor after 14 months due to creative differences. She is yet to be snapped up by a major label. Hopefully by the time she inks a new deal she’ll have ironed a few things out.

But it looks like fans will have to wait a while to hear any more from the singer on social media. The Bad Boyz star took to Instagram on Saturday to inform her followers she would be going 'off-grid' as she plans to head on an extended retreat away from her hectic celebrity lifestyle.

Jesy has been in the spotlight since shooting to fame with Little Mix in 2011, but now wants to travel the world at her own pace.

Releasing a statement on Instagram, she said: "Hey guys! So for a long time I've really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it," she typed.

"I've got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I'm gonna take the summer off to travel the world. "I'm going to be off my social media for a while, I love you all so much and I'll see you when I'm back."
