Jesy Nelson is tipped to make her long-awaited return to the music ring - having filmed a music video for her second solo single.
The 31-year-old singer has even drafted in her ex-boyfriend to boost up her video as she attempts to crack the charts again.
The new song is called Cried Out and Jesy drafted in her ex-boyfriend Harry James to direct her music video.
The duo shut down Twickenham Studios in South West London on Friday to film the video which sources hope will see Jesy returning to top form.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: "This new record marks a fresh start for Jesy — she’s had a year to get over the drama of her ill-fated first single, which was actually met with a lot of critical positivity, and has put the episode behind her.
“She’s poured a lot of her feelings into the lyrics and hopes that the track will mark the beginning of a new era for her. She’s excited and raring to go.”
Working with Harry on the video could court controversy, however, as he directed her last music video for Boyz featuring Nicki Minaj.
The video sparked a furious backlash as Jesy was accused of ‘blackfishing’ and featuring racial stereotypes in the video.
The fallout was so severe, it is believed to be part of the reason Jesy parted ways with her record label, Polydor.
A spokesperson for the label flatly announced back in July: “Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy.
“We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future.”
The announcement came months after Jesy failed to top the charts with her debut solo single - which reached a peak position of number 4.
The star had teased she was working on more music - but fans were left disappointed when further music failed to materialise.
While Jesy and Harry dated in the past, more recent reports have linked her romantically to rap star Zion Foster.
Last month it was reported the pair had enjoyed a romantic getaway to the Caribbean.
They flew off to the five star Sandals resort in Montego Bay on the north of the island of Jamaica - the all-inclusive hotel specialises in romantic breaks and honeymoons and features Love Nest Suites overlooking the ocean complete with bathtubs on the balcony.
A source claimed at the time: "It's early days and there is definitely no label on things but Jesy and Zion have grown close in recent weeks.
“They are taking things at their own pace and playing it all by ear but they are really enjoying each other's company. Jamaica was the perfect chance to really get to know each other away from where they could be recognised.
"Jesy is in a really great place right now and excited for what’s in store for next year."
