Fresh off the back of her BAFTA win last weekend, Jessie Buckley led arrivals at the World Premiere in London for her latest film, The Bride.
The Irish actress, who plays the titular character, has cemented her reputation as one of the most versatile performers of her generation, appeared in high spirits as she greeted fans and posed for photographs at Cineworld Leicester Square on Thursday evening.
The premiere marks another major milestone in what has been a remarkable run for Buckley, following critical acclaim across film, television and theatre.
Due to be released in UK cinemas nationwide on March 6, The Bride reimagines the Frankenstein mythology in bold new fashion.
Set in 1930s Chicago, the story follows the revival of a murdered young woman who is brought back to life as a companion for Frankenstein’s Monster. However, rather than remaining a passive creation, the woman begins to forge her own identity in a city brimming with gangsters, corruption and social upheaval.
The film is directed, written and produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal, who reunites with Buckley following their previous collaboration. Gyllenhaal has described the project as a subversive take on a classic tale, blending gothic romance with a gritty crime backdrop.
Buckley was joined on the red carpet by an impressive roster of co-stars including Christian Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Penelope Cruz. Bale, who takes on the role of Frankenstein’s Monster, drew cheers from assembled fans, while Cruz added a touch of old-Hollywood glamour to the evening’s proceedings.

The premiere transformed Leicester Square into a sea of flashing cameras, with crowds gathering behind barriers hours before the cast’s arrival. Inside, guests were treated to an introduction from Gyllenhaal before the screening began.
Industry insiders have already tipped The Bride as one of the most visually ambitious releases of the year, with its period setting and striking production design offering a fresh lens on Mary Shelley’s enduring creation.
The celebrations are set to continue long after the final credits roll. Following the screening, cast and guests are expected to head to Bardo St James’s for the official after-party, where the festivities will carry on into the night.
