Jessica Wright's £6k baby shower 'perfect distraction' from painful pregnancy condition

Jessica Wright recently threw a £6,000 baby shower – which was the perfect distraction from her pregnancy woes.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star is days away from giving birth to her first child.

While she “can’t wait to meet her baby boy”, the first-time mum has been suffering from a debilitating condition in her third trimester.

Prior to her lavish baby shower at the top of The Shard in London, the 36-year-old revealed she is battling pelvic girdle pain, also known as Symphisis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD).

Although it isn’t harmful to the baby, it causes uncomfortable symptoms caused by a stiffness of joints which make it painful to get around.

Even if she was in pain on the day, Jess didn’t let it ruin the special occasion which was organised by her sister Natayla.

A source told New magazine: “Jess is a worrier, but she had a lovely baby shower. It was a good distraction.

“She is in pain. There’s a lot of aching and it hasn’t been an easy pregnancy. The pain is around her pelvic area so any sharp pain makes her worry.

“But she’s so excited for the baby to come – there’s not long to go now.”

The glamorous baby shower took place at the five-star Shangri-La hotel in The Shard.

Guests included her mum Carol, sister Natalya and Michelle Keegan, who is married to her brother Mark Wright.

Sharing photos of the happy day with her 1.5 million Instagram followers, Jess revealed it was teddy bear themed.

There was a huge teddy bear cake and bespoke biscuits, including one with a print of her baby scan and another iced with the words ‘mummy to be’.

And guests could help themselves to a huge buffet table of refreshments such as prosecco, rose wine, sweet treats, doughnuts and cookies.

Jess captioned the post: “My baby shower was absolutely beautiful & everything I’d envisioned. Thanks to everyone involved for helping make it so special.”

The singer and reality star announced she was pregnant in November shortly after she got married to businessman husband William Lee-Kemp.

But she admits the baby news took her by surprise as she was panicking about early menopause and had even frozen her eggs when she was 35.

Jess took the decision as her mum Carol went through menopause at the age of 41 and she was scared it would also happen to her.

In the end the couple ended up getting pregnant quickly naturally, leaving Jess “terrified”.

Speaking to the Fabulous podcast about impending childbirth, Jess shared: “I don’t know how I’m going to do it. I’m terrified. But I think every woman knows that it’s going to come out one way or another.”
