Jessica Simpson said she was feeling “angry” and “defensive” in a response after her fans expressed concern about her appearance in a Pottery Barn advertisement.
Over the weekend, the singer appeared in a video on Pottery Barn Kids’ Instagram page, walking viewers through her 3-year-old daughter’s room.
Commenters jumped on Simpson’s physical appearance and vocal delivery in the video.
“Something is wrong here,” one wrote.
“Is she OK?” asked another.
Simpson, 42, responded in a new video on Sunday singing along to her song “Party of One.”
“I needed to be in my studio today because this is where I ground myself and heal. As much as I have learned to block out destructive noise…peoples’ comments and judgements can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘you will never be good enough,’” she captioned her post.
Simpson added that she was doing her best with her sobriety.
“We all have our days of wanting to be, look, do, and feel better. Nobody is alone with that feelin’ that I can promise you,” she wrote.
Simpson didn’t specifically respond to the Pottery Barn comments, but did acknowledge something was bothering her.
“I woke up at the same time anxious and insecure but also also angry and defensive — like some of you,” she wrote before ending on a high note.
“A little advice…live inside your dreams and move through them,” she wrote. “Don’t give up on yourself because someone else did. Stay true to YOU. It has worked for me in this chaotic life thus far. Nothin’ and nobody will rob me of my joy. Ya might come close but it is mine to own. Yours should be too.”
