American tennis player Jessica Pegula secured her spot in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open after defeating Diana Shnaider with a score of 6-4, 6-2. This marks Pegula's seventh appearance in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament. Pegula, seeded No. 6, is on an impressive streak, winning 13 of her last 14 matches on hard courts, including back-to-back titles in Canada and a runner-up finish at the Cincinnati Open.

Despite her previous quarterfinal exits in major tournaments, Pegula remains determined to break the pattern and deliver her best performance in the upcoming match against No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek. Swiatek, who defeated Pegula in the 2022 U.S. Open quarterfinals, acknowledged Pegula's current form and anticipates a challenging encounter.

In other women's singles action, Karolina Muchova and Beatriz Haddad Maia also advanced to the quarterfinals. Muchova, who made a comeback after a wrist injury, will face Haddad Maia, the first Brazilian woman to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals since 1968.

On the men's side, top-seeded Jannik Sinner set up a quarterfinal clash with 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev after defeating Tommy Paul. Medvedev, the only past men's winner remaining in the tournament, dominated his match against Nuno Borges. British player Jack Draper made history by becoming the first British man to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals since Andy Murray in 2016.
