Jessica Chastain makes a case for this bold paint technique in her New York living room – the home is listed for $7.45 million

Jessica Chastain.

Jessica Chastain has listed her apartment in Manhattan's iconic Osborne building for $7.45 million – and after spending more time than we care to share swooning over the listing photos – one room stands out as our favorite.

The living room, where Chastain has color-drenched one corner in a soothing sage green, reminds us that, though this paint technique is risky, it makes an unrivaled statement in the right environment.

Though the Molly's Game actress has not painted the entire space sage (as is typical practice when color drenching), she has flirted with the technique in a bite-size way. The sage walls and sofa tap into the look, but Chastain has preserved the room's traditional wooden features – merging historic charm with a contemporary color trend seamlessly.

After roughly nine years of ownership, Chastain is selling the apartment, located in the prestigious structure designed by James Edward Ware in the early 1880s. The unit is said to overlook Carnegie Hall – a fitting view considering former residents included celebrated conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein. He lived in the unit in the 1950s alongside his family.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Chastain purchased the property from composer Adam Guettel – the grandson of composer Richard Rodgers (best known for his Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza) for $5.1 million for the property in 2015.

Accessed through the turn-of-the-century detail-filled lobby, Chastain's apartment is a continued celebration of the city's past – with modern, quirky design features, such as the aforementioned color drenching technique.

Designed by Carrier and Company, the interiors are curated to complement the home's architectural assets – including five woodburning fireplaces, custom Ralph Lauren wall coverings, and restored plantation shutters. There's also a bay window with Tiffany Studio-created led glass transoms – the perfect spot to overlook the buzz of visitors on their way to Carnegie Hall.

In the kitchen, the blend of traditional decorating features and modern color palettes come to life once more. The space includes a rolling ladder to access the higher cabinets alongside a power blue kitchen island and tiled backsplash.

The four bedrooms are scattered throughout the L-shaped floor plan, accessible through a vibrantly wallpapered entryway and landing. Chastain currently uses one (in the northern wing) as a library. The primary bedroom features a luxe bathtub in the main sleeping area and leads to an ensuite with dual sinks.
