The hockey community is reeling following a devastating Saturday morning in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Renowned NHL reporter Jessi Pierce and her three young children perished in a fast-moving house fire just a day after sharing a glimpse into their lives.
While investigators work to determine the cause of the blaze, a poignant final social media post has left followers heartbroken.
A Final Friday Afternoon Together
Jessi Pierce uploaded a series of poignant images documenting a Friday trip to a local ice cream parlour with her three youngsters, unaware that a fatal blaze would strike their home only a day later. The 37-year-old mother, her three little ones and the family pet were all discovered inside their White Bear Lake residence after an intense inferno swept through the property on Saturday morning.

Despite the queue extending far down the pavement, the youngsters waited their turn for ice cream covered in sprinkles and a sandwich from a nearby stall, leading Pierce to post 'bag(s) secured' as the final caption on her X account.
Cherished Memories of a Happy Family
The images captured the youngsters grinning as they tucked into their desserts, with the 37-year-old's daughter and one son sporting odd socks and grubby leggings from an afternoon of play, while her other boy tackled a sandwich overflowing with cheese.
After the league confirmed the heartbreaking news on Saturday, a National Hockey League spokesperson extended their deepest sympathies to the family, noting that the organisation is devastated by the loss of their colleague and her three children.
In an official tribute, the NHL described the 37-year-old as a cherished contributor to the NHL.com staff for over 10 years, with a genuine passion for the sport, and said she will be profoundly missed by everyone who worked alongside her.
Investigation Into the White Bear Lake Blaze
Emergency services rushed to the property in the early hours of 21 March after receiving reports of smoke. However, the specific cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal. Following the tragedy, both the Minnesota Wild and the NHL issued official statements confirming the heartbreaking news and offering their deepest sympathies to the family.

A Community Grieving for the Pierce Family
Along with her three youngsters, Pierce is survived by her husband, Mike, who was away from the home during the early morning blaze that also claimed the life of the family pet.
