Resolution may be in sight on Raphinha’s move to Barcelona and with that cash comes the big push to get Leeds United’s striker target over the line. With six additions already made before mid-July, the Whites have moved quickly and effectively in this transfer window.
A seventh face, in the form of a forward like Charles De Ketelaere, would draw a neat line under what’s become a summer of transition. However, the possibility of perhaps adding a back-up goalkeeper or extra left-back later in the window has been floated among fans.
An experienced stopper was considered in January when Victor Orta weighed up the club’s resources if Illan Meslier were to be unavailable. Kristoffer Klaesson is the current number two and he performed well in his one senior appearance as a sub at Molineux.

With Junior Firpo the only fit, senior, natural left-back for the opening day, there is clearly a lack of depth in that department. This is only underlined by the travelling party in Australia where Leif Davis, who may yet leave this summer, is the first-choice left-back.
Jesse Marsch was asked about the chase for a striker on Thursday night after beating Blackpool. He said: “Yes, we are actively hunting a striker and I feel like if we get a striker, that will feel pretty close to full strength and feel good about the group.”
A striker, namely De Ketelaere and alternative names, is understood to be Orta’s sole incoming business as it stands, but Marsch has at least left the door ajar. The American could only say he felt the squad would be close to full strength with an extra attacker, not 100 per cent full strength.
With six weeks of the transfer window still to go, there is plenty of time yet for Marsch to have Orta find whatever he might need to scratch any roster itches he may have. Injuries and form in the opening five matches of the season may well dictate any more arrivals.
