Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has labelled Erling Haaland as one of the best in the world as he closes in on a move to Manchester City. According to reports, a deal for Haaland could be completed as soon as this week, with City set to pay his release clause, while personal terms are agreed and a medical passed.
Haaland worked under current Whites boss Marsch during his time at Red Bull Salzburg, the club where the Norwegian really announced himself as one of world football’s biggest talents. The 21-year-old scored 29 goals in 27 appearances for the Austrian side, including eight in six in the Champions League.
And Haaland, who was born in Leeds, has continued to live up to his early potential at Borussia Dortmund, too, with 85 goals in 88 appearances. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Marsch joked how it is a shame Haaland is not coming to England to play for his hometown club but is expecting him to hit the ground running at Man City.
