Jesse Marsch gives bullish response over Leeds United transfer plans amid Georginio Rutter links

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch told reporters "don't even bother" asking about the club's transfer business during his Aston Villa pre-match press conference, as speculation continues to grow regarding the imminent arrival of Georginio Rutter.

Rutter is reportedly due to land in West Yorkshire for a medical as early as Thursday evening ahead of a record-breaking deal for the club.

Leeds are thought to have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim of €28million (£24.7m), with add-ons potentially taking the deal to around €40m (£35.3m). The Whites have been eager to sign a striker in the winter window and appear to have bolstered their attack with the addition of the 20-year-old.

Rutter's versatility means that he would be able to occupy any position along Marsch's front-line. Following the arrival of Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg, Leeds are clearly intent on getting their business done as early in the window as possible.

As the American coach sat down for his press conference ahead of Friday night's game against Villa, the whole room were on tenterhooks waiting for an update on the club's pursuit of Rutter. But before a single question had been asked, the 49-year-old made it clear that he was in no mood to discuss any potential incomings.

Marsch said: "First thing is a reminder that I am not speaking about transfers. So don't even bother."

With Rutter on the brink of joining Leeds, this will not be the last time that he will be asked to comment on his potential new signing. Supporters will have to wait a little while longer before their coach reveals all over their potential latest arrival.
