Junior Firpo’s technicality, passing, athleticism, intelligence and tactical awareness are all rated among the very best in Leeds United’s squad by Jesse Marsch. Owing to form and fitness, Firpo has struggled to settle and assert himself in United’s starting line-up since arriving last year.
The former Barcelona man is yet to string more than five consecutive starts together in Leeds colours and that came way back in October 2021. Another injury opened the door for Pascal Struijk in the summer and Firpo has been unable to dislodge the centre-back thus far.
Despite his mixed record with the Whites up to now, Marsch has Firpo towards the top of his rankings for several attributes in the current squad. Aggression is the missing ingredient in the head coach’s view.
