Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford has sent a heartfelt message to Nottingham Forest midfielder Jesse Lingard after the pair were reunited at Old Trafford last night.
Lingard played against his former side for the first time on Tuesday night as he and his Nottingham Forest teammates travelled to Old Trafford. The midfielder went into the game looking to add to the goal he had scored in the Carabao Cup last week.
He left Man United in the summer after spending 22 years at the club. The 30-year-old made his way through the youth teams at Old Trafford, going on to make a total of 232 appearances for the first team.

He had only ever been away from the club on loan deals, but after falling down the pecking order, made the decision to swap Man United for Forest upon the expiry of his contract in the summer. The midfielder has since gone on to speak about the disappointment of his exit from the club, and how he didn’t get the chance for a proper goodbye.
Lingard played 53 minutes of Forest’s trip to Old Trafford on Tuesday night, as Forest fell to a 3-0 defeat, but had to be withdrawn due to injury. He did however receive a warm reception from the home crowd when making his way around the pitch to the dugout.
After the full-time whistle, Lingard also took the chance to catch up with some of his old teammates. The Forest man swapped shirts with fellow academy graduate Rashford as well as having a post-match chat with goalkeeper David De Gea.
Following the reunion, Rashford posted his response to the meeting on Instagram. Alongside a picture of the two on the pitch after the match with the caption: “More than just a friend, Good to see you bro,” Lingard then replied with: “All love bro.”
