England's young star Jess Park is unlikely to return to Everton next season.
Park, 21, has been one of the standout players for the Merseyside WSL outfit this season after arriving on-loan from Man City. Her superb campaign came to end prematurely when suffering a hamstring injury in training a few weeks back, with the forward ruled out of the season.
The Toffees have missed the Lioness wonderkid since, suffering heavy defeats to both Chelsea and Arsenal. However, sadly for Everton fans it appears she won't be returning to Walton Hall Park for another spell next season and has possibly played her last game for the club.
Manager Brian Sorensen hinted that former WSL champions City are likely to have Park in their first team picture during 2023-24.
"I think Jess (Park) went into the England team and showcased herself really well," he said. "I think (Manchester) City have big plans for her so hopefully she will do the same for them as she did for us this year.
"So I think that (her returning to Everton) is not as likely."
And City manager Gareth Taylor later confirmed this when he spoke to the media ahead of the Manchester derby which takes place on Sunday. City need to win to retain hopes of playing UEFA Women's Champions League football next season.
"I think Jess has really benefited from going out and getting week-on-week game time playing for Everton," said Taylor. "She has played in different positions and in a different kind of set-up.
"We've been very impressed with what we've seen. I think she is a really good player and I've always enjoyed working with Jess. I remember the impact she made in my first season, even as a really young player, she brings calmness and quality to the team.
"So I'm really excited to have her back in the fold with us, but also excited to see how she develops. I think (the loan) was really important for her. As much as I'd have liked to keep her with us in the ranks, it was really beneficial for her and will put her in a much better place."
