Former Premier League star Jermaine Pennant has been declared bankrupt "with debts of more than £1million".
The 39-year-old from Nottingham allegedly owes money to creditors, including HMRC and utility companies among others.
The Daily Star has reported that Pennant was issued with a one-year bankruptcy order at Birmingham County Court over a number of outstanding bills relating to his media company Jermaine Pennant Ltd. The company was dissolved in 2020.

Pennant started out as a youngster at Notts County before being snapped up by Arsenal. He went on to play for the likes of Birmingham City, Liverpool and Stoke City, making more than 400 appearances in his club career.
He played in a Champions League final with Liverpool and FA Cup final at Stoke. However his playing days were not without controversy and he made headlines while at Birmingham in 2005, when he was forced to wear an electronic tag during a game against Tottenham Hotspur after being convicted of drink-driving and other driving offences.
Pennant admitted back in June that drinking had led to "mistakes" during his career, which spanned 15 clubs in total. He told GB News: "When you're young you can have a few here or there and get away with it, but if you want to be at the top of your game, you have got to be professional. You have got to stick with the elites.
"And like I said, me not having that guidance from when I was young, I was easily led astray. I have never had an addictive personality, but the drinks certainly did leave me with some mistakes."
Pennant has been contacted for comment by our sister title Daily Star Sport.
