Jermaine Jenas has criticised Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl for his comments on Manchester United following their draw at Old Trafford yesterday.
United had taken the lead on Saturday thanks to a tap-in by Jadon Sancho at the back post but they were pegged back moments into the second half thanks to a Che Adams placed shot.
Following the draw, the Saints boss said: "It is not a big secret that when they lose the ball that the reverse gears are not the best from everybody.
"Then you have the chance to create something and we did.
"The pressing for them was good in the beginning but they aren’t used to doing it for more than 30 or 40 minutes, we came into the game after that."
When asked for his opinion on the comments, Jenas told Match of the Day host Gary Lineker that he was not impressed.
"I don't like it if I am totally honest with you," he explained.
"I am not a fan of it.
"He has had such a great week, Southampton and Ralph Hasenhuttl, that he should focus on what his team is doing.
"I get that he has got caught up in the fact that he has got that relationship with Ralf Rangnick but it didn't sit right with me that he was talking about an opposition's team especially when they are not going through the best of times."
When fellow pundit Danny Murphy played devil's advocate and suggested that Hasenhuttl was only answering the question he was asked by the press, Jenas responded: "You can ignore the question and say that 'I want to focus on my team that have been doing very well."
Rangnick appointed Hasenhuttl as RB Leipzig manager in 2016 when he was sporting director of the German club.
Manchester United return to action on Tuesday night when they host Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
