Jeremy Vine's show hauled off air as studio suffers huge power outage

Jeremy Vine viewers were left frustrated as the show was taken off air at the last minute this morning.

The presenter took to social media to tell fans a big power outage meant the programme would be delayed from its usual slot on Monday.

But the ITN studio is still not back up and running after a morning of chaos - and the show will now be back on Tuesday.

He tweeted a hopeful update before the Channel 5 show was about to begin but there was no way back for the programme today.

Jeremy accompanied his post with a picture of the show’s team working in the reception of the building in London.

Bosses aired the police documentary series Car Crime UK: Caught on Camera instead and will continue with other programmes until this afternoon.

The daily talk show was then replaced with re-runs of Million Pound Home after power and the back-up generator reportedly failed.

ITN Spokesperson said: “A power outage this morning has affected a number of buildings and businesses in the Gray’s Inn Road area. We have therefore moved to our backup protocols to protect our news output, which has continued to air today.”

The morning presenter said on Twitter : “Power cut @ITNProductions so we are all in reception. Here's hoping @JeremyVineOn5 is with you at 0915.” (sic)

But they didn't make it - and there was still no sign of the show hours later.

Channel 5 have said in a statement: “Due to a major power outage Channel 5 is unable to broadcast Jeremy Vine this morning. We apologise for the change in today’s schedules.”

Responding to Jeremy’s tweet, one viewer: “You would have thought [Channel 5] would've advised viewers of the programme change.”

Another fan told him: “Was wondering what has happened to my favourite topical TV show.”

A third put: "No emergency power generator? Never mind, will catch up with @TheJaneMcDonald in the #Caribbean! Good luck!”

But some people weren't cut up by the issues.

One tweeted: "First bit of good news this week!"

Vine on 5 usually airs between 9:15 to 12:15 before Channel 5’s afternoon programming.
