Jeremy Vine's Channel 5 talk show forced off air after ITN power fails

Jeremy Vine's Channel 5 TV programme has been forced off air after a power shortage at ITN Productions. The daily talk show which sees guests join journalist and broadcaster Jeremy and TV presenter Storm Huntley to discuss the latest headlines was replaced with re-runs of Million Pound Home and The Yorkshire Vet after a power cut on Monday morning.

The power and the back-up generator reportedly failed early on Monday, April 4 and staff at ITN Productions reportedly received an email at 8.30am which said there had been “significant power outage” at the building in Gray’s Inn Road in central London

An update at 9am said if they were working from home they “won’t be able to access certain things”. Staff camped in the building’s foyer as they waited for the issue to be resolved.

Jeremy Vine took to Twitter and posted a picture of himself and co-host Storm with confused looks on their faces and added the caption: “In @itn reception earlier waiting for news that power had been restored — still, a good chance to catch up with broadcast buddy @StormHuntley"

Earlier in the morning, a hopeful Vine tweeted a picture from the reception at the Channel 5 show's studios adding: “Power cut @ITNProductions so we are all in reception. Here’s hoping @JeremyVineOn5 is with you at 0915.”

It is understood that tests are continuing in the hope that power can be reinstated at 11am. It is not known whether the power cut will affect the ITV lunchtime news bulletin.
