Jeremy Vine rushed to A&E after bike accident left him ‘knocked out cold’

Jeremy Vine was rushed to A&E after he fell eight feet from his penny-farthing.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 56, has been recovering after he was “knocked out cold for a minute or two” when he landed on his head following the tumble on the grass over the weekend.

Luckily a crowd of people gathered to help the star.

In a piece to camera, the journalist said he had been “in the wars” when he spoke via a video link to viewers on Jeremy Vine on 5.

He said: “I’ve been in the wars a little bit, as my mum would always say. Look at the black eye there, broke my glasses.”

He was taken to Charing Cross Hospital where doctors him he was lucky to have just a black eye and some aches from the fall.

He added: “I came off my penny-farthing and when you are on it you are eight foot up. I was on grass. No one around.

“I think this is what happened. Didn’t see the divert, front wheel into it, over the handle bars, landed on my head, crowd gathered.

“Luckily I have spare glasses. When I went to A&E they said you are fine and you are lucky. And they said they have never written this on the form before ‘Was riding a penny farthing’.”

At the time of the fall, he was wearing a helmet.

Fans rushed to share their well wishes for the star.

Among the comments, one wrote: “Sorry to hear this Jeremy. I know how much you love your penny-farthing, but I hope that you will be OK after this ,and I hope it does not put you off riding your beloved penny farthing in future, but best wishes for your recovery.”
