Jeremy Renner’s sister Kym shares update on Marvel star’s recovery after snowplough accident: ‘He’s a fighter’

Jeremy Renner’s sister has given an update on the actor’s recovery following his snow plough incident on New Year’s Day.

The Hawkeye star was severely injured after the six-tonne machine crushed him at his home near Lake Tahoe. He was then airlifted to hospital with “blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries”.

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam has since confirmed that at the time of the incident, Renner was assisting a family member as they attempted to free a vehicle stuck in the snow.

Now his sister Kym offered an update on behalf of the Marvel star, saying that they are “thrilled” with his progress and were hopeful he would continue to make positive strides toward a full recovery.

Speaking with People Magazine, she said he was “crushing all the progress goals”.

She told the outlet: “We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead. If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around.”

The star has been giving updates about his recovery on social media (Twitter)

Since the incident, The Bourne Legacy actor has undergone two surgeries – one to place metal pins around his legs, the other a chest surgery.

The S.W.A.T. star has also shared photos and clips of himself on social media in hospital, as he’s assured fans he is being nursed back to recovery.

In his first update, the actor shared a selfie showing his bruised face and wrote: “Thank you all for your kind words. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all” (sic).

Over the weekend, Renner celebrated his 52nd birthday in the ICU and took to his Instagram Stories to mark the occasion by thanking the medical professionals who have helped him thus far.

Posting a photo of himself in a hospital bed while surrounded by medics, he wrote: “Thank you renowned medical ICU team for beginning this journey”.
