Conservative MP Jeremy Hunt had his surname mispronounced as a swear word by Sky News presenter Sophy Ridge on live TV.
A clip of the incident soon went viral after Ridge's unfortunate slip, according to the Daily Star.
She was discussing Hunt as a possible successor to Prime Minister Boris Johnson in light of Monday's confidence vote and mistakenly used an expletive.
Ridge said there were 'two figures who are significant' before mis-pronouncing Jeremy Hunt and saying 'because he's a potential leadership candidate.'
Ridge did not immediately acknowledge her slip as she carried on without referring to swearing on live TV.
Twitter users were quick to discuss the on-air slip. Scott Ryan wrote: "Oh GOD Sky News just said 'Jeremy [****]' and the presenter didn’t even notice."
Someone else wrote "can’t fault the subtitles", sharing a still from the show with "[****]" subtitled in full at the bottom.
Another person said: "I was watching and thought she said it but wasn't sure. She really emphasized it too!"
Referring to Cabinet Minister Nadine Dorries criticising Hunt for saying he would be "voting for change", a fourth Twitter user joked: "Nadine thinks it, but Sophy actually said it!"
It is not the first time Hunt has been referred to as the offensive term during a live broadcast.
A YouTube compilation video shows eight further examples from repeat offenders Sky News as well as BBC 's Question Time, BBC News and Radio 4, among others.
BBC presenter Jim Naughtie is thought to be the first person to make the slip, during a 2010 radio segment.
