Jeremy Clarkson reportedly axed from Amazon Prime programmes after Meghan comments

Jeremy Clarkson has reportedly been axed from Amazon Prime comments after writing a column about the Duchess of Sussex. It is thought the presenter will not appear in new shows after the piece in the Sun.

The former Top Gear host currently stars in The Grand Tour alongside James May and Richard Hammond. He also fronted the hugely successful Clarkson's Farm.

But Variety reports Clarkson won't appear in any more shows on Amazon Prime. He will however still feature in the already commissioned series of the Grand Tour and Clarkson's Farm, reports the Daily Star.

His tenure at the streaming service will not reach beyond 2024. The shows currently in the works will still go ahead, with Clarkson's Farm ending with series three next year.

The Grand Tour is currently scheduled four more special episodes in 2024. The decision comes after Jeremy publicly apologised on social media, admitting he emailed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to apologise for comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex in his Sun column.

Clarkson said Meghan should be "paraded naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her". Clarkson later insisted he was referencing a scene from Game of Thrones when he made the demand.

He also said he "hates" the Duchess, comparing her to Nicola Sturgeon and Rose West. In a statement posted on Monday (January 16), Clarkson said: "One of the strange things I’ve noticed in recent times is that whenever an MP or a well-known person is asked to apologise for something, no matter how heartfelt or profound that apology may be, it’s never enough for the people who called for it in the first place.

"So I’m going to try and buck the trend this morning with an apology for the things I said in a Sun column recently about Meghan Markle. I really am sorry. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me putting my hands up. It's a mea culpa with bells on."

The star continued: "It was a slow rumble to start with and I ignored it. But then the rumble got louder. So I picked up a copy of The Sun to see what all the fuss was about.

“We’ve all been there, I guess. In that precise moment when we suddenly realise we’ve completely messed up. You are sweaty and cold at the same time. And your head pounds. And you feel sick. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Had I really said that? It was horrible."

Clarkson was also axed from the BBC and its flagship show Top Gear after a "fracas" over dinner with one of the producers. The petrol-head punched Oisin Tymon in the mouth, causing "swelling and bleeding to his lip" over an alleged row.

He had to drive himself to A&E for treatment, with Clarkson's contract later ended by BBC higher-ups. His Top Gear co-hosts May and Hammond later followed him to Prime and quit the channel.
