Jeremie Frimpong Celtic windfall wheels in motion as Manchester United 'launch' Aaron Wan-Bissaka replacement hunt

Former Celtic standout Jeremie Frimpong is being considered as a replacement for outcast Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Manchester United, according to a report.

Erik ten Hag appears to be in the market for a new right-back as he looks to provide competition for Diogo Dalot, with the 23-year-old being preferred option on in both the English Premier League and Europa League so far this season at Old Trafford. In contrast, Wan-Bissaka has only managed four minutes of action so far this season with Ten Hag admitted he wanted to find "cover" for Dalot in the winter window following the win over West Ham.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that former Celtic defender Frimpong is rapidly moving up the Manchester United shortlist after impressing since his move to Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old left the Scottish Premiership for the Bundesliga back in January 2021 and has become a regular in the German top flight, Europa League and Champions League.

Romano claims that United have already scouted Frimpong but are set to follow up before the January window. He told his Youtube channel: "I'm told that Manchester United will send scouts again in the next games to follow Jeremie Frimpong.”

A big money move to the Premier League could see Celtic land a big windfall. It's understood his move to the Bundesliga big boys included a cast-iron sell-on fee, similar to the ones agreed upon Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney's exits.
