Jeremiah Smith has been a star at Ohio State and continues to bloom as one of the best receivers in college football, and Air Noland had the potential to be a Buckeye great as well.
The Buckeyes, given the immense talent they bring in, aren’t always able to share the snaps, and Noland, who was a high 4-star talent in the class of 2024, saw the writing on the wall.
He has opted to hit the transfer portal and take his talents elsewhere. That news broke Monday and didn’t come at a great time with Ohio State preparing for its first-round College Football Playoff battle Saturday.
Fellow freshman Smith didn’t have much to say, but he did post about the breaking news Monday.
Love ya boy🤞🏾❤️ https://t.co/HzEwZPKUXh

With Tavien St. Clair coming to Columbus next season and a few other backups likely above Noland in the depth chart, it makes sense that the freshman looks to a new program to help develop his skillset.
Noland was the 7th-best quarterback in his recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2 quarterback is originally from Fairburn, Georgia, so one should expect teams in that area to have an upper hand in securing the high-profile free agent.
