Jeopardy! contestants were heavily mocked online after all three failed to finish the Lord's prayer correctly.
When host Mayim Bialik asked them to complete the following sentence: "Matthew 6:9 says, 'Our Father Which Art in Heaven' this 'be thy name,'" all three appeared confused and stumped for an answer.
The trio stood there awkwardly as Mayim waited for the winning answer, only for the buzzer to ring and time to run out.
Mayim went on to give them the correct answer to the contestants. The winning answer would have netted them $200.
At the time, Suresh Krishnan, who was the eventual winner, had $1,600 in the bank, while challenger Joe Seibert had -200 and Laura Blyler Scanland had -$400
Fans were shocked at the contestants' inability to answer the question, with one person tweeting: "Hey, 'Jeopardy' geniuses… It's HALLOWED. Sheesh, what a sad world we live in."
A second added: "I can't believe people on Jeopardy didn't know 'Hallowed' be thy name of the Lord's Prayer. How could they have never heard that."
A third was equally living, tweeting: "That's 'hallowed,' you heathens!" "Jeopardy!"
"Today, 3 Jeopardy contestants did not know the first line of the 'Lord's Prayer!' Sad. Our Father, who art in heaven, ________ be thy name; They didn't know the answer: 'Hallowed.' Pathetic," another vented, while someone else chimed in, "Screaming Hallowed! They didn't know the "Our Father." #Jeopardy."
Jeopardy regularly has viewers at home shocked and mocking contestants for failing to answer questions correctly.
Even host Mayim was blasted as she took over for Ken Jennings during his hiatus from Jeopardy hosting duties. She was criticised during her opening sequence on the show back in February, with one person tweeting: "I've changed my DVR settings until Ken is back--hope it's not long!"
Another added: "With respect to your decision, I will not record or watch until Ken Jennings returns. I'm a lifelong watcher, but Mayim makes one of my favorite shows unwatchable."
Mayim and Ken were announced as the current presenters of the show in the summer of 2022, replacing the longtime host Alex Trebek who sadly died in 2020 at the age of 80.
