Jennifer Lopez might have sang "love don't cost a thing," but she is supposedly reconsidering it and is potentially planning a postnup agreement.
The act will mimic a prenup agreement that occurs after a wedding and comes just a year into her marriage to Ben Affleck.
The rumours come as the honeymoon phase might be over for the two, according to a body language expert who spotted "tension" between the two at Michael Rubin's lavish annual Fourth of July party on Tuesday.
But that's not the only sign of trouble in paradise. At the 2023 Grammys the two looked tense sitting next to each other and the internet ran wild with theories of why the couple was unhappy.
The news of a postnup comes a week after reports that the two are renewing their vows this summer. The couple got married in Las Vegas last year on July 16 after getting back together in 2021. They had initially cancelled their first engagement way back in 2004.
A source told Heat: "Jen's got more to lose than Ben, and while she trusts in her gut that he wouldn't try to take her to the cleaners, there's a 'better safe than sorry' vibe, especially with so much on the line."
J Lo has a net worth of $400 million, and while Ben is worth a whopping estimated $200 million, the source speculates that
"It's not uncommon for couples in Hollywood to arrange these types of formal documents a year or two into their marriage," the source said, "so they're being sensible, but it still isn't an ideal scenario off the back of so much tension and trouble."
Their romance at the turn of the millennium had them engaged within the year, postponing the wedding a few times, until ultimately breaking up. But love found a way and they became Instagram official in 2021 and were engaged once more the next year.
Ben and Jennifer were separately married before rekindling their romance. Ben began dating actress Jennifer Garner in 2004, and they married a year later. The couple have three children together, Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11. After 13 years of marriage, the couple called it quits.
Similarly, J Lo was married to Latin singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014. The two share twins Max and Emme, both 15. The blended family appears to get along well and has frequently been seen on outings together.
"Both of them are realists who have been through divorce and don't want to be dealing with a nightmare money battle if they don't make it out of this rough patch," the source said.
Bennifer was seen recently possibly arguing at the premiere of Jennifer's movie, The Mother. Only time will tell what's in store for this couple.
