Jennifer Aniston touched on her divorce from Brad Pitt on the final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as the pair reminisced on their first interview in 2003.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show came to an end today after nineteen years, nineteen seasons and over three thousand episodes.
Ellen DeGeneres was emotional during her very last talk show episode on Thursday, which also saw appearances from Billie Eilish, and P!nk.
Jennifer's inclusion is a fitting tribute after the Friends actress was the very first guest on the show when it first hit screens in 2003.
The finale, which marks the 20th time Jennifer has appeared in the NBC studio, saw her talk about her divorce and decision to enter therapy after Friends came to an end.
Jennifer, decked out in BaubleBar rings paired with a jumpsuit from Et Ochs and sandals from Saint Laurent, sat down with Ellen after the pair shared a long hug, asking: “Where does 19 years go? I don't understand.”
Looking back, Ellen asked: “What do you remember? I remember vividly you being on the first show.”
She continued: “I want to talk about the ending of Friends - what did you do to deal with that?”
Speaking frankly, Jennifer said: “Well, I got a divorce and went into therapy.
“Then I did a movie called The Break Up. I just leaned into the end. Let's make this a completely new chapter. End everything and start out. And it worked great.”
Jennifer then turned the questions on Ellen, asking her if she knows what she wants to do next now her long-running show has come to an end.
Ellen replied: “I want to lay low for a little while. I want to rest and then I'll do something again, but I don't know what it is.”
Over the past two decades, the 64-year-old show host has interviewed the most famous people in the world and amused millions around the globe with her humorous skits.
Over the past few weeks, she has chatted to the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, Zac Efron and Bruno Mars.
Earlier in the last show, Ellen was left overwhelmed as she walked through the NBC studio for her final dance with Stephen "tWitch" Boss on the daytime programme.
As she entered, Ellen fought back tears as the audience cheered and the facts of the show’s conclusion seemed to hit.
She told fans as her voice became thick with emotion: “This show has forever changed my life. It is the greatest experience I have ever had.”
Her show came under fire in 2020, when accusations of a toxic workplace environment on the set came to light, and Ellen herself was allegedly at the centre of some complaints regarding her “mean” behaviour.
A report from BuzzFeed included current and former employees who complained about alleged bullying behind-the-scenes, prompting an internal probe of the show by Warner Bros.
Findings indicated “some flaws in the show’s daily management” and in September 2020, Ellen herself apologised for things “that never should have happened”.
In May last year, the star announced The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be finishing in 2021, after it wraps up its 19th season.
