Jennie Garth has reflected on the tumultuous period in her life following her second divorce from Twilight star Peter Facinelli.
Garth, 54, and Facinelli, 52, divorced in 2013 after 12 years of marriage and three daughters together. The Beverly Hills, 90210 star was previously married to musician Daniel B. Clark from 1994 to 1996. She is now married to actor Dave Abrams, 44.
In her forthcoming memoir, I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention, Garth opens up about the devastating aftermath of her second divorce. She writes that one evening, after consuming alcohol and pills, she needed to get her stomach pumped, according to People. She entered rehab afterward, which helped her become sober.
“I noticed my light really dimming. I wasn’t putting off good vibes. I could see it in the mirror. I could look at the negative impact that that kind of grief and anger was having on me,” she told the outlet in a new interview.
“And there was a weird switch where one day I just said, ‘I don’t want to carry this anymore. It’s impacting my relationships and how I feel about myself. I’ve got to let it go. I’ve got to forgive him.’”
The two now have a harmonious co-parenting relationship. Last year, Garth thanked Facinelli for taking her and her family in during the Los Angeles wildfires.
“I wanted to let you know that we are safe. Peter and his family took us in and have been so kind. I am deeply saddened for our city. And just feel numb,” the What I Like About You alum wrote on Instagram in January 2025.
Facinelli has been engaged to actor Lily Anne Harrison, since 2020. The two welcomed a son, Jack, in 2022.
Last year, Garth revealed that she and Facinelli’s eldest daughter, Luca, 27, found her father on the exclusive dating app Raya when he was single.
“My ex-husband Peter, I was told, was on Raya. And his age range that he was looking for, was also the age range of his oldest daughter. So, she came across him on her thing,” Garth said on an episode of the I Do, Part 2 podcast, hosted by former Good Morning America co-anchors TJ Holmes and Amy Robach.
Facinelli’s representative told The Independent at the time that he had only gone on “one date” through the app.
“It was with his current partner Lily Anne Harrison, who he’s been with for ten years,” they said. “They share a two-and-a-half-year-old and are very happy.”
In addition to Luca, Garth and Facinelli share daughters, Lola, 23, and Fiona, 19.
