The new film, set 36 years after the original, follows the Deetz family as they return home to Winter River after a tragic event. The storyline takes a twist when Lydia's rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, played by Ortega, stumbles upon a mysterious model in the attic, leading to the accidental opening of a portal to the Afterlife and the release of Betelgeuse.
During a news conference at the festival, Ortega expressed her admiration for Ryder's previous work and her approach to the character.
