House Oversight Democrats released a another batch of photos showing powerful people socializing with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including President Trump, former President Clinton, and conservative provocateur Steve Bannon.
Why it matters: Democrats said they received 95,000 new photos from Epstein's estate — only 19 of which Democrats chose to release — that offer another look into the high-profile figures he associated with.
What's inside: The undated photos depict a younger Trump speaking to various women with their faces redacted, images of Epstein's infamous jet and red condom packets with Trump's name and likeness on them with the phrase, "I'm HUUUUGE!"
- None of the photos depict sexual misconduct or suggest any wrongdoing.
What they're saying: "It is time to end this White House cover-up and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) told Axios in an emailed statement.
- "These disturbing photos raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world."
- "We will not rest until the American people get the truth. The Department of Justice must release all the files, NOW."
- Garcia also said that Oversight Democrats are "reviewing the full set of photos and will continue to release photos to the public in the days and weeks ahead."
The other side: "Once again, Ranking Member Robert Garcia and Oversight Committee Democrats are cherry-picking photos and making targeted redactions to create a false narrative about President Trump," a spokesperson for Oversight Republicans told Axios.
- "We received over 95,000 photos and Democrats released just a handful. Democrats' hoax against President Trump has been completely debunked. Nothing in the documents we've received shows any wrongdoing."
- "It is shameful Rep. Garcia and Democrats continue to put politics above justice for the survivors," they said.
By the numbers: A new Reuters-Ipsos poll released Friday found that 70% of respondents think the government is obscuring details about other people involved in Epstein's trafficking of underage girls, including 62% of Republicans.
- Roughly 53% of Republicans approve of the president's handling of the Epstein scandal overall — up from 44% last month.
- However, only 23% of Americans approve of Trump's management of the files overall, a 6% increase since July.
What we're watching: Trump signed a bill in November that compels the Justice Department to release all records about Epstein.
- That bill gave multiple judges the green light to release Epstein's grand jury transcripts to the public, which should be released after survivors' names and other private information are redacted.
- The bill requires the files to be released within 30 days of it becoming law, making the deadline Dec. 19.
