Jeff Bezos says a nurse earning $75,000 a year in Queens should not be sending more than $1,000 a month to Washington and argues that the bottom half of US earners should pay no federal income tax at all, as he notes they currently contribute only about 3% of federal individual income‑tax receipts.
'We shouldn't be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington,' Bezos said in a previous interview. 'They should be sending her an apology.'
