Amazon founder Jeff Bezos made one of the biggest philanthropic commitments to climate change and nature in 2020 when he pledged $10 billion to the Bezos Earth Fund. Six years later, the massive fund continues to roll out investments across climate, conservation and urban green spaces, with Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, playing an increasingly visible role in deciding where the money goes.
In July this year, Lauren Sánchez announced a $100 million investment in eight US cities through the Bezos Earth Fund’s Greening America’s Cities program. The initiative aims to transform underused urban land into parks, green spaces, wildlife habitats and community gathering places. The announcement was made on July 7, 2026.

The July investment is focused on Allentown, Pennsylvania; Atlanta; Cleveland; Indianapolis; Little Rock, Arkansas; Los Angeles; Salt Lake City; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
