Jeff Bezos has expanded his real estate portfolio with the purchase of a third property on the exclusive Indian Creek island in Miami for a whopping $90 million. This off-market transaction adds to his previous acquisitions on the island, known as the 'Billionaire Bunker' on Biscayne Bay.
Indian Creek is a highly exclusive enclave with fewer than 100 residents, including notable figures like Ivanka Trump and Tom Brady. The island boasts its own mayor and police force and is accessible only via a gated bridge.
Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, intends to reside in the newly acquired six-bedroom home while he plans to demolish two other properties he bought earlier on the island. His initial purchase on Indian Creek was a $68 million waterfront mansion, followed by a seven-bedroom estate for $79 million.
In November, Bezos announced his relocation to Miami, citing a desire to be closer to family and Blue Origin's Cape Canaveral operations. Florida's favorable tax environment, particularly its lack of a capital-gains tax, may have influenced his decision to move.
Bezos' real estate holdings extend beyond Miami, including properties such as two neighboring mansions in Beverly Hills, a ranch in Texas, and a $500 million superyacht named Koru. His penchant for acquiring adjacent properties is evident from his previous residence in the Hunts Point area near Seattle.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos ranks as the world's second-richest individual. Reports suggest that his total real estate assets, including the recent purchases in Miami, could be valued at up to $190 million based on Zillow estimates.
