Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion is continuing to benefit from the club’s talented Under-20s group.
Adam Leese, Scott Logan and Evan Wolecki are the latest to pen extended deals and are set to feature regularly in the senior squad through until the end of the season.
A number of players have previously made the step up including the likes of goalkeeper Sam Townsley, defender Kieran Sweeney and midfielder Rannoch Ramsay.
Gunnion, ahead of this weekend’s home game against Tynecastle, again highlighted the success of the U20 team in providing talent for the first team and revealed a number of others are knocking on the door.
“We welcome into the squad our three latest signings from the U20s, Adam Leese, Scott Logan and Evan Wolecki,” Gunnion told the Perthshire Advertiser.
“All have committed to the club until the end of next season and we’re delighted with that.
“All three have shown they merit the opportunity and will be welcome additions to an already talented pool of players.”
Providing a fitness update for the Premier Division fixture, Gunnion continued: “We’re waiting on the fitness of one or two but it looks like we’ll be without Dayle Robertson again, albeit he is showing signs of improvement and hopefully we’ll see him back in training soon.
“Kieran Sweeney may miss out again as his injury is still hampering his ability to train.”
Swifts are welcoming a Tynecastle side – whose manager is Charlie King – high on confidence following a 4-1 victory away at Broxburn Athletic last Saturday.
The capital club sit 11th in the Premier Division standings but Gunnion sees the quality they have at their disposal.
“This week will be different again and we are facing an in-form Tynecastle team who’ll arrive in Perth with confidence,” the Swifts boss explained.
“Charlie has them playing well and scoring goals so we know the performance must be improved if we are to get three points again.”
Swifts took some confidence of their own from last weekend’s 3-1 league victory away at Oakley thanks to Connor McLaren’s double and an Aaron Whitehead goal.
The triumph keeps Swifts among the runners and riders at the top end of the division. They sit third, one point behind second-placed Musselburgh Athletic but 12 points adrift of leaders Linlithgow Rose.
“The Oakley game was one where the result was key,” Gunnion said. “The performance was something we can’t be overly critical of, certainly not in relation to the technical aspects of it.
“The surface and conditions dictated how the game had to be played and I thought, whilst we took a little time to get to grips with those factors, we managed them well.
“Credit goes to Oakley as they worked incredibly hard and are showing real signs of improvement.”
