At the recent Emmys, Jean Smart secured the award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her portrayal in 'Hack.' This marks Smart's third win for her role in the show, adding to her impressive tally of six Primetime Emmys in total.
In her acceptance speech, Smart expressed her gratitude, stating, 'Thank you so, so much. It’s very humbling, it really is and I appreciate this because I just don’t get enough attention.' She also lightened the mood with a humorous remark about her need for attention.
'Hack' is a Max comedy series that revolves around aging stand-up comedian Deborah Vance, played by Smart, who teams up with young comedy writer Ava Daniels, portrayed by Hannah Einbinder, to revitalize her act at a Las Vegas casino.
During an interview with CNN's Chris Wallace, Smart shared her initial apprehension about working alongside Einbinder, a real-life comedian and the daughter of 'Saturday Night Live' original cast member Laraine Newman. Smart admitted to feeling out of her comfort zone as she had never delved into stand-up comedy before taking on the role of the sharp-witted comedian Vance.
