Jean Johansson has wished her A Place in the Sun co-star best wishes as she departs the show after seven years. Scarlette Douglas' last episode of the show aired today as she bids fair well to the show and on to pastures new.
The Scots presenter dedicated an Instagram story to her co-star and praised Scarlette for 'inspiring' her. She wrote: "@MisssScarDoug was the first black woman I saw presenting a property show. Hugely inspiring to me. Keep soaring Scar, we'll miss you (and your outfits)."
Today on Instagram, Scarlette shared an Instagram reel with various snaps of herself during her seven-year stint on the show, and announced that she would be leaving. She wrote: "Well after 7 long years, my final ever episode of A Place in the Sun is out today at 3pm! It’s been a journey of ups and downs but my goodness have I enjoyed every minute of being in that sunshine and helping amazing couples find their dream homes!
She added: "All good things must come to an end, but it’s actually just the start of even more incredible times to come. Thank you to everyone that has supported me over the years, I hope I’ve made you proud and do stick with me on this rollercoaster ride as there are lots more twists and turns on the horizon! I hope you all find your (home in the sun wherever that may be)."
Earlier this year, Scarlette teamed up with her brother Stuart to take part in two other property programmes on Channel 4. The brother and sister duo made their debut with Flipping Fast, before more recently launching another makeover show called Worst House on the Street.
Scarlette has also filmed another property programme abroad called My Dream Derelict Home in the Sun. However, speaking in an exclusive interview with Express, Scarlette opened up about her hectic filming schedule.
She went on to admit that everything got a bit too much at one point and she had a "meltdown" over her workload. "In September 2020, I flew out to film A Place in the Sun and I was away for four months," the expert said.
"It was September through to December and I was filming both shows. I was going from one [show] to another, doing six-hour drives by myself across France and Spain at night time in the fog, rain and glaring sunshine.
"It was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done."
She added: "When I looked at my diary for this year and at the end of last year I had a bit of a burnout," she admitted. "I had a bit of a meltdown.
"I thought, 'I don't know how I'm going do this', but by the grace of God and a lot of vitamins... a lot of water, it is kind of getting me through."
