Jean Harlow’s Iconic Los Angeles Estate Is Listed for $16.8m – Featuring a Hidden Prohibition-Era Bar, Original Crown Moldings, and a Lagoon-Like Pool

If you are hoping to own a piece of film history, now's your chance: Jean Harlow's Bel Air estate is on sale for $16,800,000 with David Kramer of Compass.

The stunning estate, which Hollywood's original blonde bombshell called home from 1932 to 1936, is an ode to the American Colonial Revival style. It was built in 1932 and designed by architect C.B. Clyne, spanning across four bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Once called the 'Whitest House in the World' to describe Jean's penchant for painting and decorating only in this bright color, it strikes the perfect balance between intact original details and modern amenities.

This home is full of original boiserie paneling, marble fireplaces, and crown moldings largely unchanged from Harlow's time. Other charming 20th-century features include arched built-in bookshelves in the library and a hidden Prohibition-era bar. Modern additions, including a gym, a billiards room, and an enlarged kitchen, complement these '30s details, turning it into a gorgeous yet highly livable property.

In addition to the main property and the guest house, the 1.32-acre grounds include a large pool with an original diving board (pictured above) and spa, a two-story pool house with a balcony and French doors, a full-size tennis court, a koi pond, a waterfall, two greenhouses, winding nature paths, and a temperature-controlled wine cellar.

Let's take the tour. You will see plenty of photos of Jean's home, and I've also curated an edit of products to help you recreate the look of the beautiful neutral bedroom, so you can get a dose of Old Hollywood Glamour no matter where you live.

The exterior of the house is just as gorgeous as the rooms within. Dreamy tennis courts and a walkable path throughout the property offer a leafy respite from busy Los Angeles life.

The prohibition-era home bar is one of our favorite period details. Its sleek wood walls and louche red built-ins make it feel deliciously private.

The wood kitchen is right in line with 2026 trends and full of prep and cooking space.

The vaulted ceilings in the primary bedroom of this house are unbelievably dreamy. They celebrate the home's history without being too obvious, and the result is perfect.
